Matua Ray’s visit
On Monday morning Matua Ray came to talk to our class about how to keep our fresh waterways healthy.
First Matua Ray talked about the Clarity of the water. he He showed us a video about clarity and then he got a pipe like the one from the video. There was a black magnet on the top that moves something like a telescope. He grabbed it from out of the corner. The pipe was for measuring how clear our fresh waterways .He picked some people to have a turn. The people the black disc in the pipe any more. The
Next Matua Ra’y told us about temperature. We watched a video. Next he told us about Temperature of the water the temperature it should be 15 degrees .After that he told us about ph levels the best ph level is 7 because if it was 9 it would to alkaline and if was 5 it would be too much acid.
Later on he told us about pest in our fresh waterways. There are two fish one of them is gambusia. Gambusia is mosquito fish that kills fish and eats the eyes of the whitebait fish. Koi carp they make mess in the water and other fish find it hard to breathe.
I loved Matua Ray’s presentation about waterways and i learned a lot and we will see him next week.
